Traffic flowing after broken down coal train moved
UPDATE: TRAFFIC is flowing again in Toowoomba after a broken down coal train had earlier blocked traffic.
A Toowoomba Police spokesman said Jellicoe, North and Jones Sts were now operating as usual.
The broken down train which caused the issue was moved by another train.
An Aurizon spokesman said the loaded coal train broke down at around 6.45am and a second locomotive was sent as quickly as possible to retrieve the train to the Willowburn rail depot.
"Aurizon apologises for any inconvenience caused to local residents."
EARLIER: A coal train has broken down in Toowoomba blocking traffic in Jellicoe, North and Jones Sts.
Motorists are being advised to seek alternative routes.
A police spokesman said workers were in the process of moving the train now.
Another engine has been brought in to move the train.
The spokesman said the blockage was causing traffic chaos.
It is expected the train will be moved within the next 15 minutes.
