Coach set for Games

WARWICK hockey product Lee Bodimeade will be back on home turf this week and is planning the downfall of the Australian Hockeyroos.

The 42-year-old who played more than 100 games for Australia and won a silver medal at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics is head coach of the USA women's team that will play the Hockeyroos in three matches at the Sunshine Coast at Easter.

Now based in San Diego, Bodimeade will coach USA to a second Olympics after qualifying with a 4-2 win against world champions Argentina in the final of the Pan American Games.

"We have had some good results of late against the top teams in the world," Bodimeade said. "Knowing that we can beat the best provides a greater belief within the team to achieve this," he said.

"We have pre-qualified for the first time in over 20 years and this has provided us with the opportunity to be very specific in our preparation.

"Our goal for the Olympics is to win the gold medal."
