Club powers on as top choice for waterfront wedding venue

IT'S SEE YA later mountain tops and hello door-front water views.

The Caloundra Power Boat Club has had an impressive win at the 2018 Australian Bride's Choice awards.

It took out top prize for the Best Wedding Venue in a Licensed Club on the Sunshine Coast and Hinterland.

Labelled as the region's "best-kept secret”, the establishment on Pumicestone Passage is set to skyrocket.

Function coordinator Priscilla Wilcox said it was now "full steam ahead”, as the success had motivated them to make new changes within the business to help it grow even bigger.

"We're bringing in a whole new marketing campaign which will help us take off,” she said.

Mrs Wilcox attributed the venue's achievement to the easy and care-free service she said it provided its clients.

"Everything is in the one place,” she said. "We have an outdoor waterfront gazebo for ceremonies, multiple function rooms for receptions and an abundance of accommodation options within walking distance.

"I believe we go out of our way to make every brides day as special as it can be.”

Ms Wilcox said the expanding business could also provide a benefit for others in the area.

She said the business was aiming to increase its marketing efforts to out-of-town clients, which in turn was hoped to encourage more tourism on the Sunshine Coast.

"Down on Golden Beach is special because it's not quite as busy other areas on the Sunshine Coast - there's parking, there's serenity and everything is in the one spot,” Ms Wilcox said.

"We already have people travelling from places such as Brisbane and Toowoomba but we are looking to extend that range.”

Catering for sit-down tables anywhere between 130-280 people, the club had the space and versatility to offer a range of different packages for diverse functions.

"We do birthdays, conferences, cocktail parties, we offer rooms free of charge to community groups and also do wakes, which we also don't charge room fees for,” Ms Wilcox said.
