Clermont ranger wanted judges to join 'Miles pie club'

CLERMONT ranger Miles Pritchett headed into a MasterChef challenge saying "It's my big chance to cook again today. Blow it and it might not come around again."

There were 11 contestants in last night's judges' auditions challenge with judge Gary Mehigan saying there's "only five aprons left and today four are up for grabs".

Each contestant was given a personalised basket with ingredients.

Miles cooked a pie "with a little bit of a twist".

"It's not your traditional Aussie meat pie it's going to have a little bit of an Asian kick," he said during the challenge.

"As a park ranger these are the sort of flavours I like to cook up on the camp fire.

"Simple but with a bit of a punch to keep it interesting.

"The aim today is to get the judges to join the Miles pie club."

Miles's pie received much praise from the three judges.

"You really got that pie in at really the latest possible moment. And I just thought it's not going to taste good. But it's actually very tasty," Gary said.

"Flavours are all great," judge Matt Preston said.

Meanwhile judge George Calombaris gave Miles a big hug after tasting his dish.

Unfortunately Miles didn't receive one of the four aprons though.

"I'm devastated I didn't get that apron," Miles said.

"I'm going to go into tomorrow's (tonight's) challenge and put up something that's going to give me the last apron."

He only has one more chance to cook for a final spot in the Top 24, you can watch and the other contestants battle for the last apron tonight on Channel 10 at 7.30pm.

Rockhampton-born contestant Harry Foster made it through survived the MasterChef judges' auditions last night.
