Clermont man locked up, accused of three rapes

A CLERMONT man has been locked up, accused of three counts of rape in a domestic setting, among other offences.

The young adult faced Mackay Magistrates Court on Wednesday in custody.

Legal restrictions prevent The Daily Mercury from naming the man.

The defendant has been charged with three counts of rape, listed as domestic violence offences, on February 11 at Clermont.

The man, represented by defence solicitor Aaron Sellentin, of Barron & Allen Lawyers, is also accused of choking, strangling or suffocation and deprivation of liberty on the same day.

Additional allegations include failing to appear for court, drink-driving and driving between 11pm and 5am on a provisional licence.

No pleas have been entered. Magistrate Damien Dwyer adjourned to early May.
