Clancy crowned champion of the beach
BEACH VOLLEYBALL: Taliqua Clancy has once again proved herself as one of Australia's best beach volleyball players alongside teammate Mariafe Artacho Del Solar.
The dynamic duo are the newly crowned Australian champions after taking out the title at Manly Beach.
The team, ranked number seven in the world, had a slow start against Japanese duo Miki Ishii and Megumi Murakami losing the first set 21-16.
They bounced back winning 21-17 and 15-10 to score the win and the championship.
To make it in the final Clancy and Artacho Del Solar defeated fellow Australians Nikki Laird and Becchara Palmer in straight sets.
The Australia men also finished on top with Chris McHugh and Zachery Schubert defeating the French combination of Arnaud Gauthier and Quincy Aye in the final 2-0.
"We had a fantastic tournament here at the Australian Championships as part of Volleyfest 2019,” McHugh told Volleyball Australia.
"This has been a great building block for our team and we have taken many steps of progress this weekend.”
The focus now turns to the 3-Star FIVB Tour event at Manly Beach this week, the biggest beach volleyball tournament staged in Australia since the Sydney Olympics.
