Citroen throws extra value at C4 Picasso

CITROEN is getting creative with the price and features of its C4 Picasso to help drive sales.

The people-mover is now available with the "Vision" special equipment package that includes a sat nav, a full length glass sun roof, an opening rear window for quick access to the boot and auto-folding rear view mirrors for $38,990 driveaway.

"This package contains the options that for which we get the most requests," says Miles Williams, general manager of Citroen in Australia.

"So we have put them together in one package and that means we can deliver them at a very special price, amounting to an added value of up to $4500 for just an extra $1000."

The Citroen RT6 Navigation system also integrates the entertainment and Bluetooth functionality.

The opening rear window adds to the versatility of the C4 Picasso by allowing easy access to the boot even in confined spaces where it would be difficult to open the full rear door.

Based on the  Citroen C4, the C4 Picasso occupies little more road space than a small hatchback. This makes it easy to drive and park, and ensures a light environment footprint, with its diesel engine returning a remarkable open road average of just 5.7 litres/100 km with emissions further enhanced by a standard particulate filter and a CO2 figure of 177 g/km.

Yet, for all its compact exterior dimensions, the Citroën C4 Picasso matches - and often beats - what most people want from a four-wheel drive: space and flexibility.

The Picasso has a good list of standard features, including a detachable rechargeable torch in the boot, a drinks cooler in the dashboard, picnic tables for the middle seat row, power points front and rear, under floor lockers among a long list of stowage spots, key operated headlights, lights and wipers that operate themselves when needed and middle side window blinds.

It has Euro-NCAP five-star rating, with anti-lock brakes and traction control.

"The C4 Picasso is a car full of superlatives," Mr Williams said.

"The biggest windscreen in its class forms part of the largest glazed area; the least cluttered dashboard design is complemented the simplest folding rear seating system contributes that to the boot volume; there are class-leading levels of elbowroom and the best all-round visibility, while for added reassurance the C4 Picasso has recorded the highest EuroNCAP score for adult occupant protection. With the C4 Picasso Vision we have further boosted value for money and its built-in family appeal."
