Chopper rescue planned for Mt Coolum climber

RESCUERS are hoping to access a helicopter to bring an injured climber down off Mount Coolum this afternoon.

State Emergency Services, Queensland Ambulance and Queensland Fire and Rescue are at the scene.

A QAS spokesman said it was too dangerous to bring the 24-year-old down off the mountain using ropes.

"We are hoping for a chopper," he said.

The climber suffered a dislocated knee and is being cared for by paramedics.
