THE local slang in Charleville might be hard to understand, but what Eula Parker has found is mateship, patriotism and a beautiful community to be a part of.

Mrs Parker is a 34-year-old who migrated from the Philippines eight years ago and on Tuesday at 3.30pm was officially sworn in as an Australian citizen.

The Waroona recreation activity officer said becoming an Australian citizen meant a lot to her.

"I will able to enjoy the privileges at the same time being aware of the obligations to my country,” she said.

"I am truly grateful to Charleville community for giving my family a home and to live in a beautiful place with lots of support and opportunities.”

Mrs Parker said coming to Australia was the best decision she has ever made.

"I first came to Australia way back in 2011 as an International Student, one of my relatives in Sydney sponsored me to experience Australian lifestyle and to help my family back home,” she said.

"I met the love of my life in Australia, Laurie and we have a son Monty.

"I am very happy and blessed to have a family of my own here.

"I work as a Recreation Activity Officer in Waroona and I am very passionate in working with the elderly and making their twilight years to be joyful and meaningful.

"I would like to thank everyone especially mayor Annie Liston for her guidance and support.”
