Charity bike ride draws to an end

A RESTLESS sleep for James Beaman turned into a 1700km cycling trip that landed him and support rider Nick Bladen in Toowoomba yesterday afternoon.

Mr Beaman and Mr Bladen have been cycling from Melbourne to Brisbane since the start of May and will finish the last leg of their journey today.

“I lost my twin girls Mary and Rose who were stillborn at 22 weeks and it's something that affected me deeply,” Mr Beaman said.

“At one in the morning, I couldn't sleep and I began thinking that something had to be done.

“I had the idea to cycle from Melbourne to Brisbane to raise money for the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital who had helped my wife and I so much.”
