Charges laid over Toowoomba ram-raid robberies
TWO people have been charged over two ram-raid style robberies in Toowoomba.
Break and enters at the Toowoomba Regional Council Harristown depot on April 16 and John's Panel Shop on Stephen St on April 28 both saw cars driven through gates, leaving a large amount of damage.
Darling Downs Detective Acting Inspector Paul McCusker said police executed a search warrant at a Festival St address on Saturday.
Det Act Insp McCusker said a large amount of stolen property from the Stephen St break and enter was located.
Property stolen in that robbery included thousand of dollars worth of tools and equipment the business had built up over the past 28 years.
After smashing their way through a side window, the offenders then used a car inside as a battering ram through chained fence.
"As a result a 21-year-old male person has been charged with a total of 23 property related charges," he said.
"Police will allege that he broke into the Stephen St business and stole a large quantity of tools and a vehicle. The vehicle was later located."
Det Act Insp McCusker said the same male person had been charged with the break and enter and theft of a vehicle from the Toowoomba Regional Council premises.
Two vehicles were stolen during that robbery after offenders forced their way into the depot, stealing keys to the locked vehicles.
One vehicle was later found burnt out and destroyed while the second vehicle was recovered by police.
A 15-year-old male was also charged in relation to his involvement in the break and enter at the Stephen St business.
