AN IMPRESSIVE showing at the Australian Country Hockey titles has resulted in Far North Coast player Kim Chappel being selected in the Australian Country Hockey team.

Chappel plays for Glee in FNC Hockey and represented the NSW Country team over the past fortnight in Toowoomba.

All Australian states and territories had representative teams, including a team comprising of defence force members.

"This selection is really important to me, a sort of milestone moment in hockey," Chappel said.

"I wasn't expecting it. Although I felt like I played well.

"We went undefeated all the way through the tournament until the final when Queensland defeated us 4-1."

The Australian Country squad will be touring Malaysia from March 29 until April 12 next year.

Chappel also elaborated on her hockey history, from her junior years right through to future aspirations.

"I started playing minky hockey at age 10, when I was 13 I started playing for Glee and I've been playing there for 11 years now.

"I also played a stint in Queensland in 2007, when I actually played for Queensland country.

"I would like to get into an opens state hockey team. Even though that really requires a move to an urban area."

For those wishing to assist Kim on her trip there will be an opportunity to do so with fundraising being organised through the Glee Hockey Club.
