Cast has first-hand experience of cruise shenanigans
WHILE many Queenslanders were doing their bit of backyard stargazing to try and find the 9th planet, an extremely rare spectacle was taking place at ground-level at Yandina.
The entire cast of the comedy Bow Wave was spotted, gathered under the one roof.
The Indee's cruising cast members are starting to filter back to terra firma, filled with keen observations made during their overseas travels - the kind that inject truth into the saying: "Travel broadens the butt”.
Among them are that "incredibly in the 21st century, many foreign people still speak in foreign languages”.
And this from actor Bill Hastings, who swears that someone on his cruise, during a Get to Know Your Ship Q&A, asked: "Which lift do I take to go forward?”
And backed up with: "Does the crew sleep on board at night?”
Then before a word of play-reading could get under way, discussion turned to comparing cruise-line values.
The choice was that one offered free ice-cream throughout, but payment for hamburgers, as against the next which offered free hamburgers but the lanyard had to be flashed for ice-cream.
On a quick show of hands, it was generally agreed that the first cruise company to offer both, FOC, will annihilate the opposition.
The cruising comedy of the year, Bow Wave finally got its airing, resulting in above-regulation amounts of guffaws and titters.
Those delivering lines include Joy Marshall, Debbie Pitura, Bill Hastings, Carol Burls, Ruth Montgomery, Jurgen Beschorner, Dunia Tarrant and Keith Souter.
The cruise takes place at the Yandina School of Arts at 7.30pm Saturdays and 2pm Sundays on May 27 and 28, and June 3, 4, 10 and 11.
Tickets are $25, concessions $23, groups over eight $22, and Theatre Club $20.
And there's an early-bird offer: all tickets booked and paid by April 30 attract a 10% discount.
