Terrific initiative helps fund vital shade projects

CANCER Council Queensland and the Queensland Department of Health are excited to support the 2016 SunSmart Shade Creation initiative.

The initiative provides up to 50% matched funding to purchase portable or permanent shade structures. Funding varies depending on shade type.

All eligible not-for-profit organisations that cater to children 0-18 years - like schools, sporting clubs, childcare centres and community groups - are encouraged to apply.

Applications are open and will close at 5pm on March 18.

Community benefit fund

ROUND 88 of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF) is open and will close at midnight on February 29.

The GCBF is an amalgamation of several grants including the Jupiter's Casino Community Benefit Fund.

Clubs are reminded that if they wish to put an application in for a project that involves the construction or alteration of a building/structure on Council land, they need to discuss this in the first instance with their sport and recreation officer who can help them obtain the appropriate approvals.
