BEEF Australia has welcomed new board members into positions following its AGM in early December, including the appointment of new chairperson Bryce Camm.

New directors include Kay Becker, Rodney Bell, Grant Cassidy, Jess Webb and Claire Mactaggart.

Mr Camm said he welcomed the challenge and that his family's background in beef production in Queensland led him to the industry.

Beef Australia, operated by a volunteer board, aims to promote and advance a sustainable beef industry.

Hailing from Dalby, Mr Camm said he was excited for the next Beef Australia expo, which takes place every three years.

"I think the Beef Australia platform is a great way for the Australian beef industry to come together and celebrate some of its successes,” he said.

"But most importantly, the expo is a good opportunity for promotion of our sector here domestically and also a tremendous opportunity to spread the good message about the quality of Australian beef around the world.”

The 2018 expo attracted more than 100,000 people during the course of the week and 1200 of the registered delegates were international.

"I've been involved with Beef Australia since the expo in 2012,” Mr Camm said.

"I've had involvement in operating parts and helping bring together part of the program.”

Vice chairperson during the expo in 2018, Mr Camm has worked in the symposium and seminars committee and focused on the education side of the program.

"It's what I've particularly worked on over the last two expos,” he said.

Beef Australia also promotes the industry through a celebrity chef program.

"It exposes our product to audiences all around the world, which is really important in selling and promoting the good story about Australian beef.”

Previous chairman Blair Angus said despite stepping down he would continue to stay on the board as a director.

The next expo is set to take place in 2021.
