Caitlyn rocks boot camp

GYMPIE country music singer Caitlyn Shadbolt is through to the next round of The X Factor.

The 18-year-old survived last night's final instalment of the reality singing show's boot camp round to make the Top 24.

Judge Ronan Keating could only choose six singers to stay in his under-25 girls' team.

Shadbolt was the fourth name he called out and she seemed surprised to make the cut.

"I don't think she was expecting that," Keating said.

As one of the six remaining girls on Keating's team, Shadbolt will fly overseas to work with a celebrity guest mentor in the upcoming "home visits" round.

Caitlyn and her guitar impressed Ronan in Sunday night's episode when she performed her country version of Sarah Bareilles' brave.

"I want to show Ronan I can put the country spin on whatever song he gives me and can be what he is after in an artist," Caitlyn said at the time.

Ronan believes Australia will love Caitlyn - maybe even as much as we love her here in her home town.

Caitlyn's X Factor journey will continue on Sunday night.
