Butcher snags Sausage King title

A WARWICK butcher has snagged the title of Queensland's best lamb sausage at the Royal Queensland Food and Wine Show State Sausage King Competition.

Carey Brothers Warwick will represent Queensland at the national competition next February after taking out the top gong for their Lamb, Honey and Mint Sausage.

Australian Meat Industry Council representative Gail Butler said yesterday's competition had unearthed some great products and fantastic Queensland butchers.

"The standard that we have seen since starting the regional competitions in February has been outstanding," she said.

Butchers from Toowoomba's Westridge Meats won third place in the gourmet section with their apple, sultana and pork sausages.
