Bundy is bloomin' lovely

SPRING has sprung in Bundaberg and the sun looks set to shine on the Bundy in Bloom Parade and Family Day on Sunday.

Bundaberg Regional Council community events spokeswoman Judy Peters said the parade, in which the council also had a float, would start in the CBD at 10am and make its way to Alexandra Park, where the festivities would continue until 2.30pm.

"Market stalls with a smorgasbord of local produce and beautifully designed local arts and craft will ensure bargain hunters can shop while the children enjoy the host of activities on offer," she said.

Cr Peters said Heat 5 of the Telstra Road to Discovery program would also be held in the park surrounds.

"Now in its 10th year, the program is an Australia-wide search for musical talent, with heat winners progressing to a boot camp and semi-final appearance," she said.

Sunday will also be judgment day for district potato growers who have entered the annual Rotary Potato Growing competition.

Competitors bought a bucket, soil and seed potato and competed to see who could grow the best bucket of potatoes.
