Buchanan takes top spot

AUSTRALIAN BMX rider Caroline Buchanan has clinched the top seed position in the women's time trial.

The second last rider to tackle the course, Buchanan fired her way to a time of 38.434 and along the way, relegating New Zealand's Sarah Walker from the top spot.

Colombia's Mariana Pajon, France's Laetitia le Corguille and British hope Shanaze Reade rounde out the top five.

Australia's other competitor, Lauren Reynolds, took the ninth seed position.

The semi-finals begin on Friday (London time).
