Bruce Highway southbound closed due to carjacking

THE Bruce Highway is currently closed to southbound traffic, causing major delays, after police hunted down two men allegedly behind an armed carjacking.

The man allegedly stole a woman's white Toyota Corolla at gunpoint this morning at 10am in Hervey Bay before fleeing and driving south at speed along the highway.

The police pursuit ended about 250km south when the car crashed near Roys Rd and officers descended on the wreckage, arresting the men inside.
