Bright, bold choices stun on red carpet

SURROUNDED by a sea of pinks, yellows and reds, the bright and bold hues of actress Jaimie Alexander's dress certainly stood out.

The star of NBC's Blindspot dazzled in her floor-length Armani Prive never-before- seen gown at the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards.

I loved it because it was just so bold and happy - and different.

Game of Thrones starlet Lena Headey was my second pick for best-dressed, wearing a garnet coloured Zuhair Murad halter neck dress. I especially loved the crystal beaded overlay, which reminded me of dragon scales.

Fellow Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams was pretty in a pink strapless gown with pockets, while Modern Family star Sarah Hyland's maroon off-the-shoulder gown was the classiest of the night.

January Jones' green jumpsuit turned heads while model Heidi Klum's pastel yellow ensemble was certainly unique.

But it wasn't all about the fashion on this year's red carpet, with Amy Poehler's introduction of the #SmartGirlsAsk campaign.

Questions asked of stars included "what should every woman know how to do?" and "what qualities should girls be looking for in their role models in the media?".
