OLIVER Bridgeman has blamed an arrest warrant for forcing him out of charity group - Live Updates From Syria.

The Toowoomba teenager, for whom the Federal Police issued an arrest warrant in March, had been working with the group since he arrived in war-torn Syria in May last year.

"Some of the United Kingdom charities I was working with were forced to stop working with me because of my arrest warrant from the Australia government," he announced on social media.

"I am now working with Syrian organisation called Project Hope Syria, jazakallah khair (May Allah reward you [with] goodness)."

The Muslim convert is suspected by authorities of committing offences against Australian laws prohibiting "incursions into foreign countries with the intention of engaging in hostile activities" and breaching Section 119.1 of the Commonwealth Criminal Code Act (1995).

Mr Bridgeman has maintained he is in the country for charitable purposes.

He has aligned himself with rebel groups and against the Syrian Government and its president Bashar al-Assad.

He has criticised the Russian intervention in the country, at one point narrowly avoiding an air-strike.

Mr Bridgeman is thought to be residing in Aleppo.
