Breach issued to Maryborough daycare centre
A MARYBOROUGH daycare provider has been issued with a breach after it was found that there was not adequate staffing compared to the number of children at the centre.
The issue came to light when a Maryborough mother, who the Chronicle has chosen not to name, made a complaint after her child was allegedly injured while unsupervised at EC Junior Education.
According to a letter the mother received from the Department of Education and Training, the centre received two unannounced visits from the department and the breach resulted from those visits.
The Chronicle contacted the Department of Education and Training and requested more information regarding the nature of the breach.
A statement from the department read: "Non-compliance with the National Law relating to staffing ratios was identified and the regional office is working with the provider to ensure compliance".
A statement from the daycare centre said it was aware of comments on social media regarding the accusations.
"The Department has recently finalised an investigation of a complaint against our centre regarding a child who sustained an injury whilst in our care.
"We have been informed by the department that no information was provided to them regarding the child attending a medical professional for the injury.
"The department has confirmed that they are satisfied with our supervision of children and determined that no further action will be taken regarding the complaint."
