BRANKO Babich has been trucking for 20 years. The first truck he drove was a Western Star, and from day dot he has been an owner- driver.
The unit he owned was a CAT 3406B with a Road Ranger gear box. It was set up as a tipper and dog trailer, working in and out of quarries around Adelaide.
Now the Branko runs one sweet-looking Western Star FX 4800. The engine is a Detroit Diesel EGR, which squirts out 525 horsepower and, of course, swinging the left arm to an 18-speed Road Ranger. The unit rides on air bag suspension pulling Stoodley built sliding B-double alloy tippers. Branko said it was good reliable work carting grain, which kept him on the move.
