Boosting coastal business for a good cause

THE Sunshine Coast Daily's exclusive business and entertainment hub is gearing up to launch for its second year.

The Sunny Coast Club was a massive success in 2016 and helped to raise more than $17,000 for the community.

Sunshine Coast Daily advertising manager Sally Waghorn said it was something the Daily was proud to achieve and looked to continue in 2017-18 with the help of local businesses.

The Sunny Coast Club is a member's club exclusively for businesses to provide networking, advertising and entertainment opportunities, all in one package.

Ms Waghorn said the initiative aimed to provide an opportunity for businesses to build and strengthen long lasting relationships with key customers, attract new clients and enhance staff morale.

"People like doing business with people they know, like and trust,” she said.

"So, it's no surprise the Sunny Coast Club has grown in popularity amongst business owners here on the Coast.”

She said the club had helped numerous businesses to build relationships with other like-minded owners too.

The initiative aimed to boost company profiles and enrich the brands of businesses in the local community.

"The Coast is fortunate enough to still have that small town feel in that businesses are able to leverage off their relationships and referrals can help small businesses grow substantially,” she said.

Ms Waghorn said the Daily offered a great value advertising package, combining online and print advertising, to help clients build their brand.

Supporting not-for-profit groups and charities was also at the club's core.

"The last event of the 2016/2017 calendar was a huge success with over $2500 raised for each charity involved, STEPS and St Vincent De Paul,” Ms Waghorn said.

Two surfboards painted by artist Owen Cavanagh were raffled off and special guest, surfing legend Layne Beachley, entertained attendees with stories of her taking on 50ft waves at the height of her career.

In 2016/17 the Sunny Coast Club supported Beautiful You, SunnyKids, Wishlist, Caloundra Meals On Wheels, Bloomhill Cancer Centre, Sunshine Coast Family Contact Centre and more.

Ms Waghorn said along with raising money, the charity events proved prime networking opportunities for local businesses.

The fun is set to continue, with the Club's first event for 2017-18 to enlist the talents of internationally renowned entertainment correspondent Richard Reid.

Behind the Red Carpet of Hollywood with Richard Reid will be held on August 25.

The Club will also host Roxy Jacenko on October 27 with plenty of stories from her life in the spotlight to be shared.

There's plenty more on offer in 2018, with the club playing host to the Outback Wrangler, Matt Wright, on March 23 and illusionist Cosentino on June 15.
