Bogus council compliance call warning

READER'S STORY: A series of fake calls claiming to be from the Fraser Coast Regional Council give pet owners reason to be concerned.

Recent calls will use structured techniques as seen in recent Microsoft scams that simply will reinforce the identity of the individual.

Speaking to Sarah today from the FCRC, she explained that council would not be calling on any trivial issues particularly on a Sunday.

Any formal issues to do with pets or licensing etc would be confirmed with official written correspondence.

For the most part, the scammers are confirming physical address and full name and details.

For what purpose we have yet to confirm but will keep you posted on it as it comes to hand.
