The Block favourites, Brad and Dale, arrive in Mackay

THEY might be stars on hit reality television series The Block but Brad Cranfield and Dale Vine still reckon they're just a couple of "everyday blokes" who happened to get on TV.

The down to earth duo visited Woodman's Mitre 10 as part of the Mitre 10 Aussie Road Trip.

Although it was only a flying visit for the pair, who headed to Gympie on Saturday afternoon, they thought Mackay was a "pretty good spot" with Mackay Harbour being ticked off as their favourite.

"We are going around to Mitre 10 stores and put on a little show, have a bit of a giveaway and answer any questions people have got," Brad said.

"It's a good way to get around and meet people."

Filming of the latest series, The Block Fans v Faves, wrapped up in late January and it is airing now on Channel Nine.

Since then the boys have been visiting the completed Dux House in Melbourne's Albert Park, which has been converted into four luxury three-storey apartments during the series.

"We've been repainting any marks that have gotten on the walls... there's heaps because we turned each room into a storage room for the next one basically," Dale said.

Their best renovating tips are to "plan, plan and plan some more".

"You've just got to plan for ages and then plan some more," Dale said.

This was the second time on the series for "The Blockheads" and they said it was still "a bit weird" watching themselves on television.

"I was at the pub having a feed and then I was on the telly - people were saying 'well you're there and there'," Brad laughed.

The luxury apartments go to auction next month.
