Blackbutt player mixes it with world's best

AN UP-AND-COMING Blackbutt tennis player has mixed it with the world's best players at the Brisbane Open.

Mysty Lemire had the chance to play on the courts at the Pat Rafter Arena on the first day of the Brisbane International on the back of her strong performance on the court in 2018.

Mysty succeeded at the Western Downs Colour Ball Challenge travelling to Chinchilla, Dalby and Tara as well as competing at Blackbutt's tournament finishing in the top 10 out of 60 players.

Next year she will have the chance to visit the Australian Open after being selected by her coach Tom Farrell to attend.

The Western Downs Colour Ball tournament this year will be played at Blackbutt on May 12 with all junior players encouraged to take part.

Blackbutt's first junior mini tournament will be played on Tuesday, March 5 and 12.

The tournament is a great opportunity for young players to experience some match play.

The club's first social Sunday games for 2019 will be played on March 24 at 11am.
