Biggest cart Stephen drove weighted 95 tonnes

STEVEN Sternberg and his pilot driver Caz Rixon were held up beside the Bruce Hwy at Fishery Falls 40km south of Cairns when Big Rigs saw them on January 7.

Driving a 2012 Mack Titan, Steven was transporting a huge scraper from Cairns to Parkes in New South Wales.

He works for the Clein Group out of Toowoomba and expected the trip south of the border would take three days.

"It is a big 4.5m wide load and weighs 68 tonne. We have to stop here to get a fuel pump repaired,” he said.

37-year-old Steven has been a truckie for 18 years and said it was not the biggest load he had carted.

"The biggest was a bucket wheel which weighed 95 tonne,” he said.

Caz has been a pilot driver for five years and said the most challenging road she has travelled on was up to Weipa.

The red dirt corrugated road is closed now due to the wet season.

Steven likes stopping at the Clermont Roadhouse when in the area.
