WHEN Stephanie Hill met her now-husband Les Hill, she never expected to fall for a truckie.
The couple shared the same last name before marriage and met five years ago when Les was on a stopover in Yatala. They were both at the local pub in Coomera and Stephanie was taken by surprise.
"I wasn't expecting to fall head over heels for a man in a blue singlet and jeans. Les came from Blayney and I was in Coomera so I used to look forward to Les coming up and visiting me in the truck," she tells Big Rigs.
Five years later, on October 27, the couple were married at the Eagle Heights Mountain Resort on Tamborine Mountain.
Les had requested only one thing for his wedding day - trucks!
"To keep him happy and considering it was his only request I agreed to having the trucks! JEX Contracting from Gladstone supplied the big blue banger. Thanks Jacko! Midwest Freighters and Peter Cole at ATS supplied the two white ones. Thanks Tony, Garry and Ken, they polished up beautifully and caused a massive stir on the Gold Coast roads."
There was one hiccup on the day. Twenty minutes before Stephanie was due to walk down the aisle, her wedding planner suggested the wedding move inside as hail was predicted.
But Stephanie wasn't worried about her guests or getting wet. She was more concerned about the trucks and where they would put them if it did hail.
Luckily it didn't. It might have been all the trucks tooting their horns and flashing their lights that scared the clouds away.
The couple honeymooned in Bali, Les's first holiday away from trucks.
