Beware Toowoomba: Creepy clown craze is coming back

THE creepy clown craze that swept the world last year is back, with Clown Purge Australia issuing a chilling threat.

The "clown purge" craze started in the United States and found its way to Australia, with the first sightings of terrifying clowns reported in October.

In Toowoomba clowns took to the streets at night scaring unsuspecting residents.

At the weekend Clown Purge Australia put out a warning on its Facebook page, telling residents to be aware that clowns were making a comeback thanks to the release of Stephen King's horror film IT.

"Be prepared for the best scare you've experienced in clown history."

"Get ready for the second round Australia, we're coming back for you. We have big plans.

"After the recent release of IT we have decided to come back and give a real taste.

"We have now reunited and have over 20,000 anonymous clowns over Australia.

"We will be all over the easterly coast from south to north first."

The warning finished with an attempt to reassure those who were worried that it was all in fun.

"Be prepared - we do not mean any harm, all of it is just for a scare and some laughs."
