Best economic blueprint will win election
The Federal Election will be fought as usual on economic lines.
The problem for the government is that they have already given a benign budget last year mainly to unscramble the lopsided cuts directed mainly at middle and low-income earners in their now infamous 2014 budget.
The only concession was the 2% temporary deficit levy on those earning more than $180,000.
This will disappear on July 1 next year.
While the government dithers on superannuation, claims there's no revenue problem and does not clearly spell out how much it hopes to gain from multinational claw-backs, its economic narrative looks threadbare.
More concerning for them is that Labor has used the Parliamentary Budget Office to cost its savings and the numerical upshot is that they will save more than they will spend.
