The best and worst of the 2015 AMAs red carpet

THE stars of the music industry were out in force today for the American Music Awards.

While the annual awards show is considered to be a more serious affair than MTV's VMAs, it still features more extreme fashion choices than the Oscars or Emmys.

Gwen Stefani turned heads with her black gown, which was sheer from the waist down.

See-through fabrics were a recurring theme on the red carpet, as were dresses and skirts featuring high slits.

The awards, currently underway at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, recognise recording artists across a variety of genres including pop, rock, country, hip hop, rap, soul and Latin.

So far winners include Ariana Grande, Carrie Underwood, Fall Out Boy, The Weeknd and Aussie Rebel Wilson as part of the cast of Pitch Perfect 2, which was awarded Top Soundtrack.
