Bee Gees bring the fever to Bundaberg
FOR Evan Webster, trying to emulate a pop icon can sometimes be a challenging task, especially when he is famous for hitting the high notes.
The musician is the front man in the travelling act Best of the Bee Gees, where he performs as vocal sensation and one part of the Bee Gees, Barry Gibb.
"Being such a musical icon through so many decades, there are a lot people who can identify with the music. If you don't give it your all, they will notice," he said.
It is one of those parts where you have to be able to sing all of the notes, and they are not easy.
Webster, who has played Gibbs since the late '90s, said Best of the Bee Gees was a must-see show featuring live talent and musical genius.
"It's 100% live. It is one of those things that is very rare nowadays, especially in this genre," he said.
With the ability to reproduce the authentic vocal harmonies, the act is made up of an eight-piece band featuring the who's who of the Australian recording scene.
The Best of the Bee Gees Show boasts musicians from some of the most influential bands of the '80s including Marcia Hines, Brian Cadd, Jimmy Barnes, Rose Tattoo, Eurogliders, James Reyne, LRB, Icehouse and Mondo Rock.
The event, which features hits spanning from 1967 to the present day, will be at the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre for the first time tomorrow night. Webster said he was excited to premier the show in Bundaberg.
"We have never performed at Bundaberg before and are really looking forward to bringing our great live show to the Bundy fans," he said.
So if listening to the funky beats of Saturday Night Fever take you back to the good old days or the vocal talents of Barry Gibb still make your soul swoon, then don't miss this Bee Gees extravaganza.
