Beau chucks a blue jersey in Maroons’ Fan Day
HE IS loved for his banter by the blokes and good looks by the ladies, and now NRL Footy Show star Beau Ryan is coming to Gladstone.
The former Wests Tigers and Cronulla Sharks player will arrive in Gladstone on Tuesday June 14 to film a segment for the Channel Nine show at the Maroons Fan Day.
His presence will add a New South Wales dimension to the day with Gladstone Regional Council expecting about 10,000 vocal Queensland supporters to welcome the Maroons in the street parade at 10.30am.
During the parade he will film the Beau Knows segment. The segment of the show sees Beau hitting the streets and asking punters questions about footy, life and their home towns.
It's a win for Gladstone to be seen on national television with an audience in Queensland of more than 50,000 just watching the show on WIN each week.
The player who made 126 first grade appearances and scored 53 tries in his career is unlikely to go to the luncheon and auction at Gladstone Entertainment and Convention Centre starting at midday.
Hogs Breath Cafe owner Alex Staines has been talking with the NRL Footy Show's producer and said Beau could meet up with Jillaroos players Chelsea Baker and Kody House (pictured).
In an email the producer asked Alex what the crew should do between the 10.30am parade and the 2pm rugby league clinic at Briffney Creek.
"Anything you can suggest, something physical, fun, dangerous?" the email read.
Originally the goal was to get the whole footy show to Gladstone but the cost was more than $250,000 which wasn't commercial viable.
There was also a change of plans with Beau.
He was going to arrive in Gladstone on Monday but Channel Nine changed his plans - for charitable reasons. Instead of spending a night in the Port City he will be on the Channel Nine Gold Telethon raising money for the Sydney Children's Hospital.
And he is not the only one being charitable, to help get the footy show to Gladstone, Avis and Bill Robertson Toyota have both given the TV crew a car to use for the day for free.
