A NEW reality TV ratings war is brewing.

The steam of last night's MasterChef grand final has barely cooled but viewers will be faced with two new cooking show formats tonight.

Channel 7's Restaurant Revolution and Channel 9's The Hotplate will go head-to-head in the highly competitive 7.30pm timeslot.

Restaurant Revolution, from the reality TV minds who created My Kitchen Rules, sees five teams of wannabe restaurateurs building and running their own pop-up restaurants while The Hotplate features five teams of two who already have experience running their own restaurants.

Restaurant Revolution stars Adelaide-based Scottish-born chef Jock Zonfrillo, while The Hotplate pairs up British restaurant critic Tom Parker Bowles and Melbourne chef Scott Pickett.

Only time will tell if Restaurant Revolution turns Zonfrillo into a household name like Manu Feildel or Pete Evans.

Reveling in the high viewer numbers of the MasterChef final - which attracted the biggest non-sport audience of the year so far - Channel 10 switches gears this week from cooking to romance with the third season of The Bachelor joining the ratings war tomorrow night.
