Batman's biggest ally gets own show, and it's not Alfred

MOVE over Batman, there's a new hero in Gotham City.

Commissioner James Gordon, the Dark Knight's moustached ally in the police force, is set to be the star of his own live-action television series.

Deadline reports the Fox Network has won the rights to Warner Bros. produced series Gotham.

The show will focus on a young Detective Gordon and the "villains who made Gotham city famous".

Batman, however, will not be a part of the series.

Bruno Heller (Rome, The Mentalist) is writing show, which will presumably launch during the 2014-2015 TV season.
