A WOMAN has told police how she escaped from the car of her would-be kidnapper during a violent incident at Flinders View.
Police said it was alleged a man entered the 46-year-old woman's house in Morris St about 7pm on Wednesday, threatening her with a knife.
During a subsequent struggle the man punched the woman in the head and dragged her into a car. It was believed the man made several threats towards the woman before she managed to escape the vehicle.
Police would not comment on the nature of the threats or how the woman managed to escape.
She was later taken to Ipswich Hospital for treatment of her injuries, which included significant grazes.
The woman and her alleged attacker were known to one another.
The report prompted a manhunt early yesterday, with police releasing information about the suspect's car in an attempt to track him down.
The search ended about noon, when police located a 51-year-old Ipswich man.
Ipswich criminal investigation branch Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Gary Dixon said the man was last night assisting with police inquiries into the incident. No charges had been laid.
