THE Bachelor's Keira Maguire will break her silence tonight on The Project about revelations she was born into a polygamist cult.

The outspoken bachelorette, who has had plenty to say on the reality dating show, has stayed away from the spotlight since Monday when Woman's Day revealed she was the daughter of cult leader and convicted child  sex offender Alistah Laishkochav.

Ms Maguire, who released a statement through Channel 10 yesterday, will sit down for an interview with Carrie Bickmore, during which she is expected to discuss her family's past and how she has not let her estranged, late father define her.

Her mother Michelle Maguire was one of Laishkochav's nine wives who lived with him in a polygamist relationship in Victoria and Byron Bay.

Michelle left Laishkochav, a former New Zealand police officer, and moved her children to Brisbane when Ms Maguire was five.

"I was brought up by my mother and grandmother in Brisbane in a loving, caring and compassionate household. I had a wonderful childhood and I am extremely grateful to both my mother and grandmother for the upbringing which they provided me and my siblings," she said via Ten.

"Although I have since met and reunited with my family, I have never had a relationship with Alistah Laishkochav. Alistah Laishkochav is not relevant to who I am nor does he define me."

The Project airs tonight at 6.30pm on Channel 10.
