Award winners in for long haul
CARTER Heavy Haulage and Transport commenced operations as a family owned business in 2013, solely operated by husband and wife team Josh and Leonnie Carter.
When the business first commenced Josh owned and operated one vehicle and Leonnie managed the administration. They serviced the Newcastle and Hunter Valley region providing heavy haulage transport options.
Today the company has eight employees and owns and operates a combination of 20 vehicles including prime movers, tilt trays, heavy haulage floats and dangerous goods tankers. They provide services both locally and across the Eastern Seaboard of Australia and beyond.
Dedication, passion, professionalism and sheer hard work have been the drivers that have put Carter Heavy Haulage and Transport where they are today.
They continue to grow and expand their customer base and service provision throughout the transport industry and have outgrown their original home base in Woodberry and relocated to Rutherford.
They have invested heavily in our business to ensure that their services are of the highest possible standards and that all work is completed safely, professionally, on time and to the satisfaction of clients.
They have developed and implemented a Work Health and Safety and Chain of Responsibility management system that leads the field in the transport industry within the region for small businesses.
They have implemented telematic monitoring systems that assist us in managing and meeting our client's and statutory obligations.
In March this year Carter Heavy Haulage and Transport was honoured to be named the winners of the Hunter Safety Award for the best WHS Management System - Small to Medium Enterprise.
The capability and professionalism of the team demonstrates their dedication to providing safe, professional and reliable service to clients which builds their reputation in the industry.
Carter Heavy Haulage and Transport is rapidly becoming a leader in the transport industry through progressive and pro-active implementation of policies, procedures and supporting tools to manage both the operational and administrative aspects of the business.
They see their business continuing to grow and continuing to be leaders in the transport industry in the coming years.
They envisage the company as being the "new generation” of truck driving, using modern technology to streamline processes, taking safety to a new level and considering the environment in all they do.
By continuing to ensure that workers are trained in legislative and regulative requirements and best practice developments, Carters will continue to grow the business.
Relocating the business to Racecourse Road, Rutherford puts them in a prime position to continue to expand services throughout the greater Hunter region.
