Australian army soldiers honoured

YEAR 11 and 12 students from Mackay North High School gathered yesterday to organise their Anzac tour to Gallipoli in September.

Mackay North High School senior co-ordinator and organiser of the Centenary of Anzac 2016 tour Michael Goodwin said the students would spend a week researching battlefields and then will go to Belgium to research the Western Front where 50,000 Australia soldiers died.

"The students will also be stopping in Singapore to visit the Changi prison where Australian soldiers were captured and held as prisoners of war," Mr Goodwin said.

Student Genevieve Lambert said she loves learning about all the history of war. "I'd really like to travel and see the graves and experience their stories," she said.

If residents have relatives buried at Gallipoli and would like a photo please contact Michael Goodwin on 4963 1729 or mgood61@eq.edu.au
