Augathella Pony Club plays host to group of fine young talents

HORSE RIDING: On the weekend, Augathella Pony Club hosted a massive two days of competition.

Saturday was an open day with an incredible 68 dressage tests, 42 riders in the jump ring and five sporting events across six age groups.

Winners were:

Highest scoring dressage/SJ combined: Laine Dennis

Highest scoring dressage rider: Lacie Bryen

Highest scoring SJ Rider: Riley Thureson

Champion 40cm SJ Rider: Bella Witt

Champion 60cm SJ Rider: Riley Thureson

Champion 80cm SJ Rider: Riley Thureson

Assisted: Pip Warner

7 and under: Alexis Holt

10 and under: Bella Witt

12 and under: Riley Thureson

16 and under: Becky Meek

Open: Portia Stinson

Sporting highest scoring junior: Alexis Holt

Sporting highest scoring senior: Becky Meek

Overall highest scoring rider of the day: Riley Thureson on Siloh

Judges choice awards: Evie Dennis, Laine Dennis, Becky Meek, Riley Thureson and Jaylee Smith

Sunday was the John and Grace Jones Zone 13 Shield. Thirty-five riders contested sporting, showjumping and rider classes.

12 and under: Gabby Egan

16 and under: Zoe May

Open: Portia Stinson

Secretary of Augathella Pony Club Charmaine Thureson said the club was grateful to judges and sponsors for making the day a huge success and it was wonderful to see so many people attend.
