ARTSPACE Mackay is set to undergo a revamp after 14 years.

The gallery will be closed for renovations from February 20 to March 20.

A Mackay Regional Council spokeswoman said the renovations would include new carpet, a purpose-built gift shop and a specialised reading pod where visitors can enjoy the artists' book collection.

In addition, one of the galleries will be transformed into an integrated audio-visual display space.

During the renovations, people will still be able to enjoy breakfast, lunch or coffee at Foodspace, which will be open from Tuesdays to Fridays.

Artspace Mackay's public programs staff will hit the road during the closure, visiting schools throughout the region with the Artspace-to-go program.
