Arts and culture receive seed funding from Bellingen Council
FIFTEEN organisations have benefited from Bellingen Shire Council’s second round of funding and sponsorship support to community events.
The contributions enable a variety of cultural and artistic activities to take place across the shire including this weekend’s Sculpture In The Park exhibition as part of Art Urunga.
Mayor Mark Troy said the projects will encourage social inclusiveness and provide opportunities for the community to participate in lifelong learning.
“The funding will achieve a number of positive outcomes for our community with seniors, young people and those involved in the creative arts especially benefiting,” Cr Troy said.
The successful organisations for the Community Event Sponsorship Fund are:
2016 Readers and Writers Festival
The Grub Club (Sgt Matthew Locke MG Charity Rugby League Match)
Dorrigo and Guy Fawkes Agricultural Society (Dorrigo Show)
Screenwave (Rec Ya Shorts Youth Film Festival)
Bellinger River Agricultural Society (EJ Mantova Art Competition)
Urunga Mylestom Chamber of Commerce (Arts Urunga Sculpture in the Park)
The Arts Council of Dorrigo (Creative Mountain Art Exhibition)
The next round of funding begins in April.
