Arts and crafts on display in Proserpine

WHITSUNDAY locals are invited to get crafty this weekend at the ESA's annual arts and craft exhibition at the Proserpine Entertainment Centre.

This is the 17th exhibition for the Proserpine branch of Epsilon Sigma Alpha (ESA), an organisation where members develop meaningful friendships, find their passion for community service, and continue on the path of lifelong learning.

The annual showing is part of the body's community involvement project.

There will be 25 stalls present including stall holders from Maryborough, Ayr and Bowen.

Stalls will include many knickknacks from jewellery, handicrafts and 'make and take' workshops.

Exhibition coordinator and ESA charter member Pat Burns promises that this year's turnout will make for a lively and family fun environment.

"We have some wonderful talent in the district and it's lovely to share that with other people and those who are interested in learning a craft," she said.

Mrs Burns said even the males of the community won't be bored with the wood turning activities available and Men's Shed Airlie Beach will provide a display of recycled timber.

ESA encourage children to submit a craft and they still have time to do so.

The event will be hosted over Friday and Saturday this weekend and morning tea will be provided by Proserpine Entertainment Centre's friends of the theatre, at an extra charge.

"Come along and enjoy browsing through the crafts on display, and maybe buy some early Christmas gifts or just something lovely for yourself," said Mrs Burns.

For more information or if your child would like to submit a craft for the exhibition, contact Pat Burns on 4945 1850.
