Artists band together for Soundscape prize
ARTISTS and art lovers alike were on hand to enjoy a beautiful day of music and creativity when Tanamon Gallery hosted their third Soundscape Art Prize on Saturday.
Event organisers and local artists Genevieve Mortison and Sam Conderman said they were pleased to see more than 20 artists take part in the event, where they created live artworks while Northern Rivers band Fingerprint played on the open-air stage.
"It was just such a beautiful atmosphere and everyone out here was great," Ms Mortison said.
"There were compliments all day long on just how much people were enjoying it and how lovely the atmosphere was."
The winning artist day was Julianne Gosper, with all artworks selling to the public. The Clarence Environment Centre received a donation of 20 per cent of the artwork sold on Saturday.
Ms Mortison said the Tanamon Gallery's goal moving forward was to attract more people to their event.
"One of our artists Pat Jenkins said there's a lot of people who would want to be out at Soundscape but they might not know it's happening so we need to figure out how to get the word out better," she said.
"Pat said we've got all the ingredients, we just need to figure out how to get the place known better and the event known better. Soundscape is doing a good thing, connecting local artists and local musicians and its'a really beautiful thing to bring people together and expose the creativity to the wider community and inspire people."
