READER'S VIEW: Who is responsible for annual ‘wages case’

DO you realise that Australia's high standard of living has been delivered by unions?

Who is responsible for the annual 'wages case' where the Australian Council of Trade Unions conducts a case before the Fair Work Commission for an adjustment to the minimum wage?

The answer, the unions.

Even though every worker receives the benefit, there are some workers who have their hand out for the raise while refusing to make a contribution through paying union fees.

Have you ever seen a Liberal government or an employer organisation regularly argue in favour of a raise in wages for workers?

Have you ever seen either of them go to the Fair Work Commission to ask for improved working conditions, annual leave, long service leave, sick pay, parental leave, higher health and safety standards for Australian workers?

Not to mention quality education and skills training?

At least the Labor Party can stand tall.

The Australian Labor Party has always aimed and fought hard for higher living standards for Australian workers and their families.
