Animal twist on much-loved tale
THE classic tale of Robinson Crusoe screening at Proserpine Entertainment Centre next month is told from the perspective of the island's animal inhabitants.
Their entertaining interpretation of the classic story casts a tatty pair of ship's ratters as a malevolent force pitted against our eponymous hero and his host of new friends.
Multiplying faster than the cats and kits from the St Ives rhyme, these pussies make truly sinister foes.
Crusoe is overcome with gratitude when a brig full of burly entrepreneurs rescues him from the South Pacific island the bedraggled castaway had been calling home.
The pirates pause their plans for plunder to hear his sorry story, certain they had saved him from a gnarly fate when they found him hog-tied and petrified with wild creatures poised to pounce. But, for those who will listen, Mak the parrot has a different tale to tell; a tale of friendship, trust and teamwork.
Robinson Crusoe will screen these school holidays.
