Angry Birds slingshot Brisbane band

A BRISBANE band's music video featuring life-sized recreations of iPhone games has gone viral, grabbing the attention of the US mainstream media.

Hey Geronimo's clip for their song Why Don't We Do Something? has notched up nearly 700,000 views on YouTube since being posted to the web under the heading iPhone Games in Real Life! two weeks ago.

The clip features the band recreating Angry Birds, the Brisbane-developed Fruit Ninja, Plants v Zombies, Cut the Rope and Flight Control in backyards, basements and football ovals around Brisbane, using DIY costumes and props.

The video, which cost less than $500 to make, has been featured on the MTV, CBS and Los Angeles Times websites after initially courting interest on overseas technology blogs and the user-generated news network Reddit.

Hey Geronimo lead singer and video co-director Pete Kilroy said the video was inspired by his "unhealthy obsession" with Angry Birds, dreaming up the idea for a life sized replica of the game a year ago.
