HAIRDRESSER and serial elimination survivor Andrew Strickland got the cut on MasterChef tonight.
After donning the dreaded black apron seven times, the 48-year-old's luck finally ran out on the reality cooking series.
Strickland found himself in tonight's elimination alongside Amina Elshafei and Beau Cook after they failed to tackle celebrity guest Heston Blumenthal's strange flavor combinations on Sunday night.
He found himself in hot water again in tonight's pressure test to recreate Vincent Gardan's complicated perfume bottle-shaped cake.
"The pressure for this pressure test was insane," Strickland said.
"Most of the techniques I had never done or thought I could."
Making more mistakes than his competitors, the family man was both relieved and disappointed in his elimination.
"Immediately after I was eliminated I felt relieved that pressure had stopped, followed by regret that I was out," he said.
"The highlights for me were to be part of such a talented group of cooks and to realise that I can do clever things in the kitchen. I really enjoyed the complexity of all the pressure tests."
Strickland plans to open a commercial kitchen where he can produce ready to go meals.
Tomorrow night, as the winner of Sunday's invention test, Kylie Millar will compete against one-hat chef Tomaslav Martinovic for immunity.
MasterChef airs Sundays at 7.30pm and week days at 7pm on Ten.
